a farm for meme
Inspired by the South Central Farm movement to save 14 acres of farmland in the middle of urban Los Angeles. The land, collectively harvested by 350 families, was the largest urban farm in the nation. In 2003, the city of Los Angeles sold the land to Ralph Horowitz, who soon after, issued eviction notices to the farmers. The community responded by establishing an encampment on the farm. In the summer of 2006, 250 police officers and sheriffs surrounded the encampment, forced the inhabitants out and watched as the farm was bulldozed. Who does the land really belong to?
